Description Tunic: Pattern 1899 khaki serge service tunic in heavy wool serge (brownish-drab shade, 580 gsm, mill dyed-color fast, 85% wool). Stand-and-fall collar (sometimes called “high stand collar”) with hook fastening. Four brass plain buttons down the front. Two lower patch pockets with flaps, breast pockets were not yet standardized. Plain cuffs (without the pointed cuff introduced later). Shoulder straps (epaulettes) sewn into the shoulder seam and buttoning near the collar, for regimental shoulder titles. Vented back for comfort. Fully lined in cotton drill or serge. Trousers: Matching khaki serge trousers with straight legs. Button fly front and buttons for braces (suspenders). Side slash pockets. Reinforced waistband and seat for field durability. Buttons: Brass, plain.Material: 100% wool khaki serge, hand-finished.Color: Early-war khaki drab (warm brown tone, not the later greenish khaki).
