A two volume set covering the history and veteran accounts of service in the Women's Air Force Service Pilots and Women's Auxiliary Ferrying Squadron during World War II. Mrs. Scharr was of one the first female flight instructors in the country in the 1930's and when war broke out she answered the call to be a ferrying pilot of various planes throughout World War II. This monumental set is an excellent history of her day-to day flying exploits along with accounts of the Army Air Corps and the WASP/WAF program. She was one of the first six women to fly for the ferrying service. Her prose actually makes you feel that you are with her in the cockpit and on the many military airfields around the country.
