This is a post-period reproduction German enamel NSDAP newspaper advertising sign. The sign advertises the Völkischer Beobachter (National Observer), which was the official newspaper of the Nazi Party (NSDAP) from 1920 until War's end in 1945. The "design" is of original origin but is not an original period piece; produced as a modern replica of an original. It was sourced directly from the region of Saarland, Germany...more than likely via an Eastern European country (Poland, Hungary, etc.). The sign is convex with a covering of enamel. It’s a solid, medium weight piece presenting very little flaws; the "perceived" flaws are by design to enhance its "aged" appearance. Please review photos carefully. Measurements (approximate): Width: 8" Height: 12" Weight: 1 lb, 2 oz DESCRIPTION: The sign advertises the NSDAP newspaper and reads: Telegramme VOLKISCHER BEOBACHTER Die führende Tageszeitung Deutschlands Seit die Zentralorgane der Bewegung: Jllustrierter Beobachter - Die Brennessel - NS Funk Der SA Mann - NS Gemeinde - NS Monatshefte Translation: Telegrams National Observer The Leading Daily Newspaper in Germany Since the Central Organs of the Movement Illustrated observer - The nettle - NS radio The SA man - NS community - NS monthly magazines Reverse Translation: To avoid damage, it is recommended that you screw the boards on, rather than nail them, and place leather or lead washers between the board and the screw head! HISTORY: The Völkischer Beobachter was the predominant propaganda medium for the Nazi Party, disseminating its ideology & specializing in promoting Nazi themes, including antisemitism, criticisms of the Treaty of Versailles, and the Weimar Republic while glorifying Nazi leadership. The significant rise of the Nazi movement increased the newspaper's circulation from over 1 million in 1941 to 1.7 million by 1944. The Nazi regime dismantled free press utilizing the Völkischer Beobachter to control information and spread its narrative. Foreign correspondents and diplomats closely monitored the Völkischer Beobachter for insights into Nazi policy shifts and propaganda objectives.
