Inter-War (Nazi Germany) 1929 Nuremberg Party Badge (NSDAP Day Badge)

This is an authentic inter-war Nazi Germany Nuremberg party day badge dated to 1929. It was a political award for members of the Nazi Party who attended the 1929 national rally in Nuremberg. It was worn on the left breast of a uniform. It became only the SECOND badge to be "officially" recognized as a national award of the party. Over time, it became a symbol of the "old guard" or those who were enduring members & was worn by high-ranking officials, including Adolf Hitler. Description: A shield-shaped stamped metal badge in aluminum. Obverse: features an image of an eagle atop an M16 or M17 helmet to, whose front is a wreathed static swastika. The date "1914" is to the left of the eagle & the date "1919 N.S.D.A.P." is to its right, while "Partei tag 1929" is beneath it. Surmounting the shield is a bar with "Nürnberg", above which is a representation of the castle in that city. Reverse: Pin-back device. Measurements (approximate): 1 3/4"H x 3/4"W History: Known as the "1929 Nürnberg Party Badge", it was awarded to those Nazi Party members who had attended the national rally in the city of Nuremberg. A special honor badge, the Party through regulations of 6 November 1936, established the badge for the 4th Reichsparteitage der NSDAP (4th National Party Day) in Nuremberg of 1-4 August 1929. Permission to wear the Nuremberg Party Badge was granted by the Gauleiter (Senior district leader). The wearing of the badge could be withdrawn by Hitler and the chief of the Nazi Party Chancellery, Martin Bormann. Following the NSDAP seizure of power, the Nuremberg Party Day Badge took on a symbol of the "Old Guard" and was frequently displayed by high-ranking leaders, including Adolf Hitler (who normally did not wear an excess of NSDAP awards) at subsequent Nuremberg rallies.
