Description WW1 Italian Army Tunic – Ordinary Soldier (Giubba da Truppa) Our WW1 Italian Army ordinary soldier’s tunic (giubba da truppa) is a great replication of the tunic which formed the centerpiece of the grigio verde uniform introduced in 1909. Made from wool in the distinctive grey-green shade, the tunic reflected Italy’s shift to a modern, camouflaged field uniform, blending effectively in Alpine, rural, and trench environments. The cut is practical: a single-breasted front with six buttons, a standing or fall collar, and four external patch pockets ( In later stages of the war it came without the pockets also). The tunic was deliberately simplified to speed mass production during wartime, but it still carried regimental identity through collar patches (fiamme di colletto), small pointed tabs in branch colors bearing unit numbers. This this tunic was worn in every theater where Italian soldiers served — from the Isonzo Front and Alps to the Western Front, where some Italian units fought alongside Allied troops. The following collar patch colors and embroidery are available at no extra charge. You can choose the colors on the product selection menu.
