B.C. Rich NJ Series Gunslinger GS-MR851 DeVille Green 1990

$34.19 $47.52
BC Rich Gunslinger, neon green, made in Japan 1990. If you’re going to play a shredstick, you may as well opt for the maxtreme version, right? With an artist list that included KISS, Slayer, Poison and Death, it’s fair to say that in 1990, BC Rich were right up the top of the guitars-for-metal game. The NJ series was made in Nagoya, Japan to an excellent standard and enjoy a solid rep to this day. The Gunslinger shape is a classic superstrat style deal: slightly pointy body, super quick neck with a pretty flat radius and tall frets, reverse headstock, Floyd Rose trem, two humbuckers with a simple three way switch and a single volume control, and of course, a very rude finish including a matching head. This plays so nicely: the neck is fantastic, it’s an intuitive shape for fast playing, and once we got the setup dialled in, the action is nice and low and the tremolo feels very smooth. The body is made of maple, which is a curiosity, but adds a bit of snap and brightness to the unplugged tone. The humbuckers look and sound a fair bit like a Super Distortion, which works nicely with the bright sounding body and neck: they’re thick, smooth and meaty through the lows, so it comes out sounding balanced, round and warm with plenty of oomph on the lows and the right amount of teeth up the top. Not all of the MIJ shredders we get through are as smooth and convincing as this is, and that green… life is fun. Model: B.C.
