Kessler & Sons Music Pre-Prep Humidification Being woodwind specialists and a repair shop based in the desert, we are huge proponents of humidifying your case for stability for your clarinet. However, when you buy a new case, they are usually rather dry, so when you put your clarinet in to the case, even with a humidifier, the case material itself will absorb moisture fast. So, we recommend “seasoning” your case before you put your clarinet in it. To help, when you buy a new Backun Marcus Bonna Clarinet Case from us, we will put in a fresh, Boveda 72% humidification pack. This way, while the case is in transit to you, it is being pre-humidified for you. We recommend letting the case season for a week before transferring your clarinet to it, but that will be up to you. Note, you do not want to leave the 72% pack inside the case after you put your clarinet in as that is too high of a resting humidity level for your clarinet. Ideally, you want to humidify at 49%, and we recommend the Boveda 49% packs for that.
