This work was originally published in German by General Alfred von Schlieffen in 1904 and in 1931 was translated into English by the US Army War College. This edition by Roger Reynolds is an edited and annotated version of the rare 1931 translation. Volume 2 covers the Franco-Prussian War 1870-1871, from the start to the surrender of the French Army at Sedan. However, the war continued on for several more months, a summary of that period is included here as Appendix Two.
