Kessler Custom Composite Bassoon Wood & Nylon Composite – Full German Key System Bassoons can be a beautiful but daunting instrument. Due to their cost, many students use instruments that are either stripped down in features, poorly maintained or both that will hinder their performance growth. So when we feel that the current offerings in the music industry are lacking the value & performance offerings that customers need, we seek to create the solution in our Kessler Custom line. Such is the case with our Kessler Custom Composite Bassoon! First, know that our company founder & head technician, Chuck Kessler, was a professional bassoonist himself! So we KNOW what to look for in a bassoon. We proudly offer this instrument as an excellent student bassoon for the student to advancing player. Composite Body Our Composite Bassoon is made from a Grenadilla & Nylon composite. This material gives the tonal warmth closer to wood, but provides the stability of a synthetic instrument. This also provides a lighter weight instrument that is easier to handle. The material is stable for any performance environment. Optional Plateau Key The left hand third finger key is traditionally setup with the ring key as it allows for the best venting. However, players with small hands sometimes find this difficult to cover. We can swap out this key and install a “plateau” key with a pad to make this key easier for small hands. This does not give as clean of a tone, but can always be switched as the player grows.
